Parents Special Events

The Pinewood Derby is a special event that we will celebrate at Adventure Montessori Learning, annually. Our first derby will be October 18th, from 1:00 to 3:30 pm. Mark your calendars! Derby car kits are available for purchase at $8.00 a kit from the front desk. Events will be held on the basketball court behind the cafeteria.
We encourage all boys and girls to work together with their parents to build their cool, fast cars! (Please let Ms. Wendy know if there are Dads out there who would be willing to “adopt” a friend in the class who might not have a Dad who can participate with his child in this event and we will team that child up with you.)

***We will need 3 parent volunteers from Kindergarten and 3 from Elementary. Kindergarten parents will judge Elementary and Elementary Parents will judge Kindergarten for “Best Looking” car. Judges will receive a scoring sheet for judging purposes.
Schedule of Events:
1:00 – 2:00 pm Check-in/weigh-in
o Judging for “Best Looking”
2:00 – 3:15 pm RACE TIME!
o Parents race first
o Kindergarteners next
o Elementary races next
3:15-3:45 pm Awards Ceremony and Pizza

There are two categories for which cars will be judged: the fastest car and the best looking car. Kindergarteners will compete with kindergarteners and Elementary will complete within their grades, 1-4.

Family members and friends are invited to enjoy the final racing event. Trophies will be given out; 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category, within each competing group. Participation ribbons will also be awarded.
